Dr Kim Simperingham is the head coach at Fit Crew Performance.
Kim has physically prepared athletes for success at the top level of a range of sports for 25 years. Kim connects personally with athletes, builds long-term trusting relationships and has a proven track record of supporting athletes to optimise performance while also reducing injury risk. Â Â
Kim has worked with sailors at all levels (recreational, youth, Olympic and professional), including with multiple Olympic sailing medalists and most recently was the Head of Physical Performance for Emirates Team New Zealand, winners of the 37th America’s Cup in Barcelona.
Kim has also worked in professional rugby for 25 years, including 8 seasons with the New Zealand All Blacks.
Kim managed the HPSNZ Strength and Conditioning team at the AUT Millennium National Training Centre in Auckland for 7 years, where he worked with a many successful Olympic athletes, including Dame Valerie Adams. Â
Kim has a Commerce degree and a PhD in sports science and has published research in the areas of speed development, sports technology, biomechanics and exercise physiology.
Kim enjoys an active lifestyle in Narrow Neck, Auckland, with his wife and two teenage boys and has also spent time living in Japan, Denmark, Sweden and Spain.
